President's Award

Presented by CMA Past-President, Mike Wallace

The President’s Award provides the Association with the opportunity to recognize exceptional contributions to our community. This prestigious award recognizes exceptional and long-term contributions to museums and heritage.

Anita Price

Capping off a career of over 30 years in the museum sector, Anita Price was the Executive Director of the Association of Nova Scotia Museums for the last 12 years, during which she was an untiring advocate truly living her calling and building strong relationships within the community, with all levels of government and especially with the members of her association.

According to one of her colleagues, “She always went above and beyond the requirements of the job to advocate for museums in the province, share her passion for heritage, and make sure that every museum — no matter how small — had their concerns heard and their questions answered. Her hard work, enthusiasm, and positivity in the face of endless challenges are truly inspiring to others in our heritage community.”

Her passion for innovation and adapting new technologies led Nova Scotian museums to become international leaders in collections management and virtual school programming. Her foresight and tenacity to embrace the future helped her members push through and adapt in changing times.

Anita has been part of a supporting community outside of Nova Scotia as well. Her Provincial and Territorial Museum Association colleagues knew her supportive nature as well in national projects and encouraging a sense of collaboration.

I had the opportunity to talk with Anita a few times last year as President of our association. She was clearly a very passionate, dedicated museum professional who loved museums and their potential, and I am very pleased to present to her this year the CMA President’s Award.
