Job Description:

Duration: Tuesdays through Saturdays, May 8th – August 25th Hours: 30 hours per week
Duties: • Visitor reception and engagement • Research, prepare, and deliver curriculum based school tours • Schedule, prepare, and deliver tours to senior, adult, children, and family groups • Supervise the museum on weekends, including opening and closing the facility, cash management, and providing tours and information on museum exhibits to visitors, as well as tourist information. • Undertake the design and development of a booklet for self-guided tours of the museum exhibits • Assist with organizing and implementing community and fundraising events • Assist in artifact cataloguing, research, creating artifact labels, and organizational tasks • Assist with other duties and tasks as required
The ideal candidate will: • Excel at public speaking and engaging with members of the public • Excel at working with and educating children of all ages • Possess strong verbal and interpersonal skills • Be efficient and well organized • Be able to work well independently with minimal supervision • First Aid Certification an asset but not required
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the STEP Program.
Preference will be given to those applicants currently enrolled in a post secondary program in the areas of education, museum studies, or similar. This position will provide valuable experience in a variety of museum operations including public engagement, museum education and programming, and event organization.
