Executive Director, Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation
Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture
Location - Charlottetown 
Full-Time (Excluded) Position
The Executive Director is responsible for planning, developing, managing, controlling and coordinating the operations of the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage Foundation (PEIMHF). Responsible to the Deputy Minister, Department of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture and Chair, Board of Governors; the incumbent serves as the chief executive of the organization and operates within the parameters of the Museum Act 1983. 
  Duties will include:
Directing, coordinating and administering the operations of the PEIMHF including management of staff, finances, collections, programs and activities.  This includes preparation and management of budgets and decision making related to the Endowment Trust;
Developing, recommending, monitoring and assessing operational and administrative practices and procedures;
Developing, articulating and presenting plans, proposals, procedures and policy options for consideration by the Board;
Communicating and keeping the Provincial Department and Board informed on a timely basis of matters of relevance to government and the Board;
Providing leadership in the museum, heritage and historic resource community in the Province;
Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with municipal, provincial, and federal departments and agencies;
Coordinating activities within the PEIMHF and externally within the museum, heritage and historic resource community;
Exploring funding opportunities and options available through Federal and Provincial programs, partnerships and initiatives;
Developing, overseeing, and controlling marketing, sales and public relations of the PEIMHF;
Representing the Department and the Board in dealing with other levels of government, external organizations, members of the PEIMHF and the public;
Other related duties as required.
    Minimum Qualifications: 
A Masters  degree in historic resource management, museum administration, public history, public policy and administration, museum studies or related discipline;
Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience related to duties of the position;
Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered. 
Extensive experience in public education through scholarly published work, conference presentations and working with heritage professionals and related academic organizations;
Senior management experience preferably in the historic resource field as well as a demonstrated capacity to work with volunteer boards and community organizations;
Experience in exhibition planning and development;
Broad knowledge of human and natural history fields of PEI and more broadly with the Canadian context;
High level of communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with others;
Strong communication skills related to social media.
Assets  
Knowledge of the publishing process and editing skills;
Knowledge of collection management and conservation methods;
Knowledge of historic building architecture;
Specialized training in museum administration; and
Bilingual capabilities English/French.

Salary Range: $41.99 - $52.49 per hour (Level 23 Excluded)
Bi-Weekly Hours:  75.0 hours bi-weekly/days (Monday-Friday)
