Job Description

We are looking for an Acquisitions and Loans Coordinator!

As an Acquisitions and Loans Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

Coordinating the collections acquisition, lending and borrowing processes with external and internal stakeholders; coordinates the processes involved in the transportation of all designated loans/exhibitions and/or new acquisitions for the Canadian Museum of History (CMH); and act as a technical expert for matters concerning CMH artefact and archival collections acquisition, loans and transportation processes.

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate has a solid experience in coordinating the transportation of artifacts and exhibitions loans; is autonomous and attentive to details, in addition to having a good sense of organization and analysis; and has an ability to interpret and understand the big picture.

Minimum three (3) years’ experience in:
• Coordinating the transportation of museum artifact and exhibition loans, domestically and internationally;
• Interacting with internal and external stakeholders, such as Donors, Lenders and other federal agencies (CCPERB, CBSA), as well as with external service providers, such as Appraisers and Fine Arts Freight Forwarders;
• Working with a collection management system such as KeEmu;
• Providing cost estimates;
• Generating legal documents and reports.

Knowledge of:
• Procedures governing domestic and international packing, crating and transport of CMH and borrowed collections;
• Applicable federal and international standards and legistration related to customs, cultural properties permits and certifications, C.I.T.E.S., Copyright Act,etc.
• General principles and practices of museology;
• Museum acquisitions, exhibitions, loans and documentation practices, policies and processes;
• Care and handling of museum artifacts and archival material.

Education: College diploma/degree in museology, and/or specialized training in regulations that relate to the acquisition and lending of cultural collections, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: E5 ($56,149 to $72,368)
Status: Permanent Full-Time Position (# 9545-01)
Location: 100, Laurier Street, Gatineau, Quebec
