JOB TITLE : Manager in charge of murals for Vanier Museopark
SUPERVISION : Vanier Museopark General Director
DURATION OF CONTRACT : 4 to 6 months, beginning as soon as possible
SALARY : Depending on experience, up to 10 000 $ upon invoice
CATEGORY : Estimate of 400h. No marginal benefits, HST to be added if applicable

ABOUT VANIER MUSEOPARK
Museopark is a non-profit community museum, which strives to preserve and showcase the cultural and natural heritage of the neighbourhood of Vanier, in Ottawa. It is the only francophone museum in Ottawa and one of the few in Canada with an interest in francophone culture outside of Quebec.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
Answering directly to the General Director of Vanier Museopark, the Manager of Murals contributes to the success of Museopark through the conservation and showcasing of its murals.

PROFILE:
 Training and experience in conservation or related field
 Strong organizational skills
 Bilingual

RESPONSABILITIES:
 Conservation
o Finding a second restoration company as to identify options and costs relating to the « SOS Montfort » mural.
o Examining samples of the 18 chosen murals as to obtain an estimate of durability etc.
o Following up with the Legris company, and obtaining examples of organizations who have opted for digitalization of murals.
 SOS Montfort
o Prioritizing the SOS Montfort Mural in order to reinstall it as soon as possible
o Determining the cost of digitalizing this mural
o Contacting Montfort Hospital to discuss installing the mural on a wall at the hospital instead of along Vanier Parkway
o Supporting the General Director in financing applications for the restoration and reinstallation: City of Ottawa, Montfort Foundation and other partners.
 Security, liability, insurance
o Inspecting the chosen 18 murals to evaluate and replace the attachments to the buildings
o Consulting with Museopark’s lawyer and insurance company as to determine the civil liability of the murals.
 Agreement with the building owners
o Identifying and communicating with the actual owners of the chosen murals in order to confirm their support and following up on certain maintenance recommendations such as trimming.
o Establishing a new version of the agreement with the owners of the chosen murals as well as a liability waiver for the non-chosen murals.
 Promotion
o Suggesting a budget and means of promoting the chosen murals.
 Financing
o Supporting the General Director in his search for financing for the maintenance and promotion of the existing murals as well as the possible creation of new murals.
