Job Description

The Ogunquit Museum of American Art seeks a museum leader with curatorial knowledge, vision, and management experience to secure recent progress and spur continued growth. OMAA is renowned for works by Ogunquit art-colony artists of the 20th century and American art from the late 1800s to the present. The dedicated part-time staff works as an effective team with enthusiastic volunteers. The Board is an engaged group of year-round and weekend/summer residents. The Museum has been refreshed in the last three years with facility upgrades, exciting programs and exhibitions, and growing participation; and has an exceptional ocean-front location 80 minutes north of Boston. The new director will continue the forward momentum with her/his own vision, initiating a new strategic plan and working effectively with the board and committees. He/she will expect to work hard and apportion time wisely to fulfill many responsibilities at a small, ambitious museum.

REQUIRED: 5+ years’ management experience, a BA (MA preferred), an art background; can bring art-world connections to attract exciting artists and programs. Skilled manager of fiscal and human resources. Energetic, outgoing personality to inspire staff, engage constituents, and help him/her cultivate and secure financial support, including major gifts and a possible capital campaign.
