Job Summary
Reporting to the VP Corporate, Public Affairs and Marketing and working in close collaboration with the Gallery’s Director and CEO and the CEO of the National Gallery Foundation, the incumbent will supervise a team of employees responsible for internal and external communications, media relations, digital content creation, media launches, and Access to Information as well as Parliamentary Questions for the National Gallery of Canada. The incumbent will create the overarching narrative for the National Gallery to enhance its awareness not only in the National Capital region but also across the country and around the world through earned and owned media through the NGC’s social media platforms and the website. Oversight of the production of the NGC’s Annual Report, and other potential publications. Establish performance indicators and reports on corporate communications strategies, and activities as well as execute and coordinate the communication aspects of public relations activities hosted or driven by the Director & CEO, senior management and/or the Marketing and New Media division.

Requirements
Education
• University degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field, or in a related field.
Work Experience
• 5-8 years’ experience in media relations practices and the changes in the media industry.
• 5-8 years’ experience with content creation processes, online publishing and audio-visual publishing.
• 3-5 year’s knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• 5-8 years’ experience with digital technologies, Social Media channels, Apps, online channels.
• 2 years’ experience in database management, website management, e-mail campaigns.
• 2 years’ experience in budget management and procurement processes, preferably in the public sector. 
• Experience leading a team preferred

• The Senior Manager, Communications will thrive in a fast-paced environment, have well-developed analytical and reasoning skills, and possess strong leadership skills. A team player and builder of networks and relationships, the ideal candidate will work in collaboration with all the NGC’s departments/divisions to encourage the organization’s growth, success, and impact.
