Job Description:
The Heritage Technician position is a temporary full-time summer position based on a 35 hour per week schedule. Regular week is Monday to Friday, but some holiday and weekend work will be expected. The Heritage Technician will assist Collections Staff with the construction, research and improvements of exhibits, and assistance with heritage buildings, grounds and gardens. Working in a team to facilitate special events and programs will also be a focus of this position. Primarily located at the Grande Prairie Museum the Technician will also work at the Forbes Homestead and the Heritage Discovery Centre. The Technician will be taught how to properly handle artifacts and will be able to access collections for various projects. They will be expected to assist with the daily operation and preservation of all three of our heritage sites. This position is ideal for someone interested in local history and eager to take part in creative projects. Interest in carpentry and general handy work is also an asset.
Qualifications include current CPR and AED certificate, valid class 5 driver’s licence, minimum one year of post-secondary education and ability to lift 50 lbs. A criminal/ vulnerable sector records check will be required. Please send applications through the City of Grande Prairie website only.
