$15.00/hour for 30 hours/week, paid every two weeks (gross pay of $900 plus vacation pay of $36.00 included in each payment); $500/m housing allowance; medical insurance and international airfare to Kigali Rwanda Provided.


Job Description:


For National Museums Rwanda (75%) the intern will:
• Help develop Gakenyeri,Kwa Yuhi IV Musinga into a national heritage site as per the Rwandan Cultural Tourism Itinerary
• Complete hands-on field work and research at other historic sites in the region
• Develop exhibition materials and promotional strategies for Gakenyeri
• Consult with local and community authorities
For CAM (25%) the intern will:
• Research the Changemakers Program including a program review and recommendations for a Canadian context
• Develop recommendations for the 2020 pre CHOGM event in Rwanda (location, venue, theme, speakers, participants, etc)
• Provide administrative support for the 2020 CAM international conference (e.g., collect and collate abstracts and biographies submitted for the conference, assist program planners in the pre- and post-conference tour planning, and fund development.)
• University degree in a related field such as museum studies, history, cultural anthropology, or tourism
• Ability to read, assimilate and synthesise specialist knowledge acquired through research
• Ability to write proposals and plans
• Excellent communication skills and social media skills; fluency in English; fluency in French is considered an asset
• Excellent organisational skills
• IT skills: Microsoft Office suite, Photoshop, and Google docs
• Knowledge of Rwandan history and culture would be an asset
• Experience working in an historic site environment preferable.
Must not have participated in a federal government internship program previously; Canadian citizen or permanent resident with provincial health enrolment; open to unemployed and underemployed graduates (must not have graduated more than 24 months previously) under the age of 30.
