Job Description:

Summary of Duties: Reporting to the Officer, Visitor Experience, the incumbent greets, welcomes and provides the visitors with information and explanations concerning the Museum’s Collection; demonstrates selected artifacts and equipment, delivers programs, workshops and guided tours, based on predetermined scripts and additional relevant information. The Guide provides exhibit security and participates in the provision of emergency security/fire safety services.
Education and Experience: As an ideal candidate, you have completed at least one year post-secondary education in the field of Sciences, Education, History of Science, Museum Studies, Leisure Studies, Early Childhood Education or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. You are also certified in First Aid and CPR.
You also have experience in the following areas: - minimum two (2) years of interpretation experience in museums and/or parks and/or related fields in tourism; - public speaking and/or drama experience an asset; - experience working with young children; - relevant volunteer work is given full consideration.
Security Requirement: Enhanced reliability
RATED REQUIREMENTS Knowledge: - of science and/or technology and/or aviation; - of preschool developmental stages; - of oral presentation techniques; - of customer service standards and practices; - of tourism facilities in the National Capital Region.
Abilities: - to work under pressure; - to work without continuous supervision; - to work effectively in a team situation; - to communicate both orally and in writing in both official languages; - to perform demonstrations in front of an audience and answer questions related to the themes presented ; - to initiate, stimulate and maintain visitor interaction.
