Summary of Duties: Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Marketing, Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation, and in a fast paced, collaborative environment, the Communications and Marketing Officer contributes to the visibility and attendance objectives of the Corporation’s Museums by promoting their initiatives and activities, including exhibitions, programs, and research. The incumbent is also responsible for coordinating production and dissemination of promotional materials, carrying out marketing activities, organizing special PR events, contributing to strategic communications and marketing planning, and performing other related duties. The standard weekly hours are: SWW 37.50 Hrs (5 days consecutive Mon. - Fri.)

Education and Experience: As an ideal candidate, you hold a University Degree (communications/marketing) and/or acceptable combination of education and experience in a related field. You also have experience in the following areas: - minimum three to five (3-5) years direct work experience in marketing communications; - managing financial resources; - media relations; - marketing and promoting a museum or attraction based operation would be an asset; - event planning, sales or customer service experience will be considered an asset; - writing for the web will be considered an asset; - communications and Marketing campaigns with national exposure will be considered an asset.
RATED REQUIREMENTS Knowledge: - strategic marketing, development of promotional partnerships, advertising, branding, tourism, special events, media relations and public relations; - communication and marketing planning.
Abilities: - exceptional oral and written communications in both official languages; - project management skills essential; - demonstrated ability to work effectively on a variety of projects; concurrently, particularly in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines; - excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit; - ability to work effectively, independently and under challenging constraints; - ability to represent the Corporation to various external entities and agencies.
