Term: April 30, 2018 through September 3, 2018, plus September 9, 2018
Hours of Work: 37.5 to 40 hours/week. Food services operates 8 am to 6pm. UCHV is opened 7 days a week – weekend shifts are required
Above Minimum Wage! $15.50/hour
Location: The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (located 25 minutes east of Edmonton on the Yellowhead Hwy 16) is an award-winning provincial historic site showcasing Ukrainian settlement in East Central Alberta (1892 – 1930).
Description: Working with a dynamic team, you will provide organizational and administrative support for all food service operations of this unique living history open-air museum!
Responsibilities: 1. Ensuring the smooth operation of group visits and catering events during the summer period for Food Services at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village 2. Coordinate catering and group events at the Ukrainian Village Food Services to ensure their smooth operation 3. Providing administrative and organizational support to the Head Chef 4. Market food services at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village 5. Marketing FOUVS food products to visitors 6. Receiving merchandise and enter merchandise into the Food Services accounting system 7. Ensuring that all food outlets are stocked and complete weekly inventory updates 8. Ensuring FOUVS food products are branded and marketed 9. Setting-up public and private spaces relating to food service 10. Knowing and adhering to required food safety standards – training will be provided 11. Understanding procedures for handling cash and daily reconciliations 12. Maintaining a sanitary and organized workspace 13. Being committed to providing quality service and genuine care for guests and coworkers 14. Possessing a positive attitude and a strong desire for constant improvement and development 15. Establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with representatives of various interest groups and the community 16. Being a team player - conferring with FOUVS and UCHV staff
Qualifications & Assets: 1. Studying in a field related to tourism, hospitality, event planning, marketing and food preparation 2. Knowledge of Ukrainian-Canadian culture and food an asset 3. Some experience in food preparation an asset 4. Marketing experience an asset 5. Self-motivated and highly energetic 6. Ability to learn and retain information 7. Outgoing, polite and friendly; must enjoy dealing with people of all ages and backgrounds 8. Excellent interpersonal skills 9. Mature and responsible attitude 10. Must be comfortable working independently, as well as in a team 11. Knowledge of Excel, Word, and WordPress. Knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign an asset 12. Own transportation and valid Class 5 drivers’ license 13. Standard First Aid is an asset
