We are looking for a Manager, Facility Management!
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Planning, organizing, controlling and managing all phases of the Museum’s facilities and life-cycle plans; • Overseeing the operations, maintenance and repairs, the architectural and engineering and design and construction services for all of the Museum’s Real Properties; • Managing capital projects and the budget of the Facility Management Section; • Managing the development of policies, standards, procedures and guidelines for Real Property Management; • Manage the acquisition and disposal of Real Property.
What we are looking for:
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in:
• Working in a museum environment or in a specialized institution and managing a team of building specialists in capital projects and in the management of contracts with professionals such as architects, engineers and construction contractors; • Managing building operations and maintenance contracts for purpose-built buildings such as museums and having a central heating plant, special architectural components and exterior grounds; • Short and long-range planning for institutional and commercial buildings up to 100,000 square meters in size, housing and an important range of different occupancy types; • Analyzing program requirements and proposing long-term strategic solutions to meet these needs; • Resolving complex design issues; • Managing building projects; • Managing financial and human resources; • Researching design and technical issues and producing reports.
Knowledge of:
• General principles of management; • Industry standards in contracting with professionals such as Architects, Engineers and Construction Contractors; • Facility management delivery processes from pre-planning and programming, through design, construction and commissioning; • Principles of mechanical engineering and design; • Critical design analysis; • Building science and technology as applicable to institutional and commercial buildings; • Building operations and maintenance.
Education: University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a 3-year College Diploma in Technology in a Building Science Discipline. Professional designation(s) required: Certification in Facilities Management Association (FMA) and eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
