Job Summary Under the direction of the Coordinator, Cultural Development and Initiatives, the Cultural Developer works as part of a team that consults broadly with external and internal stakeholders in the planning and implementation of policies and development initiatives emanating from the Action Plan for Arts, Heritage and Culture as well as other corporate strategic priorities. The Cultural Developer provides project management, policy and community development, conducts research and communicates with a wide variety of stakeholders to support branch and corporate strategic initiatives. Education & Experience Four (4) year university degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Arts Administration, Film Studies, Music, Theatre, Heritage, History, Archaeology, Cultural Studies or related field Five (5) years experience gained through progressively more responsible positions in the area of Arts, Heritage and Culture Knowledge - Municipal, provincial and national arts, heritage and cultural development policies, data sources and practices - Project management techniques/strategic and operational planning and evaluation - Knowledge of policies, issues and trends related to the arts scene in visual, performing, literary and media arts practices at the local, provincial and national levels - Knowledge of policies, issues and trends related to heritage in the areas of museums, archives, archaeology, genealogy and built heritage. - Heritage/museum/archival/archaeological disaster recovery planning methods and techniques - Familiar with First Nations, Inuit and Métis cultural practices Familiar with arts, heritage and cultural resources and support available through other cultural agencies - Building relationships with diverse stakeholders - Best practices for Francophone and diversity integration in the cultural sector - Funding policies and practices, governance structures and community needs - Sources for comparative research, surveys and data analysis - Policy development, implementation and evaluation techniques, particularly at the municipal/public level - Best practice and risk-management approaches related to community services - Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers. Competencies & Skills - Demonstrated ability to plan effective strategies for the implementation of new public policies, new delivery systems and strategic collaborations - Demonstrated ability to develop policy in collaboration with diverse stakeholders - Ability to research and analyze community needs and recommend solutions - Foster excellence and integrity in relationships with artists, arts and heritage organizations - Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and work with a team to develop realistic and innovative solutions to issues - Develop and nurture partnerships and interact effectively and productively with various stakeholders with different cultural perspectives - Demonstrated ability to support and collaborate with stakeholders within a diverse work environment, as well as recognize, acknowledge and respect diverse cultural perspectives and practices - Participate as a team member in multi-disciplinary work groups - Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing - Ability to initiate creative and innovative action/projects that target diverse audiences in the community If this opportunity matches your interest and profile please apply online at https://ottawa.ca/en/city-hall/jobs-city.
