The mandate of the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art is to reveal the vital and diverse Indigenous cultures of the Northwest Coast through the extraordinary work of Bill Reid and inspirational contemporary art. Job description
The Gallery is seeking a new Marketing Specialist to play a lead role in attracting new audiences. The Marketing Specialist will develop, implement and evaluate marketing strategies through collaboration and strategic recommendations on marketing strategies and tactics. This individual will be responsible for the production and execution of marketing and communications initiatives including paid advertising, and external agency public relations, in-house digital, social media, and other internal marketing communications opportunities. The Marketing Specialist is responsible for supervision of marketing and communications interns, as well as related contractors.
The successful candidate will have 3-5 years experience in marketing and communications with an ability to collaborate with various departments within the Gallery. You have had success in developing, implementing and analyzing marketing campaigns including direct response initiatives that achieve revenue and audience targets. You work well with changing priorities and have a proven ability to develop and manage successful marketing plans.
Specific duties include:
• Develop and execute communications strategies and annual calendar to promote Gallery exhibitions, programs and events as well as overarching organizational goals • Create compelling content for print materials, web content, e-newsletters, social media posts, videos, and advertisements to reach varied audiences across multiple platforms • Develop, execute, and analyze promotional activities to increase audience engagement, Gallery admission sales, Gallery membership, program registrations and other Gallery initiatives • Writing and editing of press releases, sponsorship materials, and other marketing collateral • Develop and execute materials to support fundraising initiatives • Maintain identity and brand of the Gallery • Design compelling graphics for both digital and print using Adobe Creative Suite • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders • Develop and monitor annual marketing budget • Website maintenance
Qualifications: • Post-secondary education in Marketing or Communications, or equivalent experience in progressive roles • Strong computer and web literacy including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Hootsuite, Google Drive, Google Analytics and Shopify • Experience in non-profit sector an asset • Fluent in English, Indigenous language would be an asset • Knowledge of Northwest Coast art and Indigenous cultural history an asset • Indigenous peoples are strongly encouraged to apply • Candidates will be chosen on the basis of their skill level and ability; therefore we welcome all applicants regardless of race, gender or disability
