The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) is the national organization for the advancement of the Canadian museums sector, representing museum professionals both within Canada and internationally.

Job Description

The report brought forward the important role that cultural institutions have to play in the reconciliation process. The Council’s objective is to focus on Call to Action #67 which is “to undertake, in collaboration with aboriginal peoples, a national review of museum policies and best practices to determine the level of compliance with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples” and to produce clear and realistic recommendations to be implemented with Canada’s heritage sector. Through a survey and consultations, key issues will be identified and resolved allowing the preparation of a final report and recommendations, and ultimately the development of a tool kit which will assist with the implementation of the recommendations.
The Reconciliation Museologist will manage all aspects of the project.
