Do you have an interest in local history and would enjoy sharing your enthusiasm with visitors and community members? Then you may be just the person we are looking for! We will be hiring a student for the summer to act as Heritage Interpreter at Randall House Museum.
Randall House Museum is open from May until December. The Wolfville Historical Society is looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing student, with a history or museum studies background to help share the story of the museum and the community by acting as our Heritage Interpreter for the upcoming season. Working under the direct supervision of the Curator/Manager and the overall supervision of the Randall House Management Committee, the Heritage Interpreter will be responsible for ensuring that visitors have an interesting, informative, and enjoyable experience at the museum. In 2019, the museum will be installing several new exhibits that focus on the Society’s textile and photograph collection as well as a new exhibit on the Gaspereau Valley and the Acadians. The primary role of the Heritage Interpreter will be to help interpret the museum’s special and permanent exhibits to visitors. On a weekly basis the Heritage Interpreter may also be responsible for conducting guided tours that may take visitors outside the walls of the museum. From time to time the Heritage Interpreter will also be required to assist with other tasks as they are able. Specific tasks may include creating and/or helping to organize events, developing and delivering interpretive programs, maintaining records of visitor attendance, providing local information to visitors, assisting with research inquiries, looking after monetary donations, conducting retail sales, assisting with mounting exhibits, attending to routine house keeping, using and maintaining filing and data systems, conducting room by room inventories of artifacts, and assisting the Curator in other museum tasks.

Candidate Eligibility: Candidates must be a full-time student in an accredited post-secondary institution or a graduating Grade 12 student who is enrolled full-time in a university or college program in the upcoming fall term. The student must be a permanent resident of the province of Nova Scotia or reside in the province for at least six months prior to this work term.
