Job Description

We are looking for an Advisor, Strategic Planning of Exhibitions and Activities

As an Advisor, you are responsible for planning the Canadian Museum of History’s offer, that is, the museum's exhibitions and activities or strategic initiatives, in collaboration and in consultation with the other directorates.

What we are looking for:
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at all levels;
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to work under pressure;
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain composure in stressful situations;
• Ability to influence and engage people of all levels in a variety of formats and situations;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Fluently bilingual (French and English).

Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience:
• proposing and recommending strategic solutions to senior management;
• coordinating work within large, multidisciplinary, creative and innovative teams, including management teams;
• museum-based research projects related to collections, exhibitions, or any other relevant museum activity;
• gathering, synthesizing and structuring information, and preparing verbal and written reports;
• prioritizing activities to ensure required outcomes for time-sensitive projects; and
• analyzing business propositions.

Knowledge of:
• CMH’s mandate, programs, services and priorities;
• Planning of Museum strategies and activities (exhibitions, programs, etc.) and related strategic analyses, particularly in the field of social sciences and humanities;
• Museum methods, theory and practices as they relate to collections and exhibitions.
