Job Description
The Wheelwright Museum of Native American art was founded in 1937 and has offered excellent exhibitions and programs over the years. The Wheelwright seeks an energetic and experienced leader with strong grounding in Native American art, fundraising experience, institutional and financial management and community engagement skills, to direct the institution. This Executive Director should bring vitality to the Wheelwright Museum; work with staff and external partners to further the Wheelwright’s artistic and educational missions; augment its financial resources; and develop and implement short- and long-term strategic plans. The Executive Director must be creative and passionate in his/her approach to the mission of the museum and be highly regarded by his/her peers. The Executive Director serves as the organization’s spokesperson and ambassador to all constituencies. The new Executive Director will lead expansion of the exhibitions and programs of this unique and exciting organization.
