Under the direction of the Curator/Manager, the Collections Management Assistant will have several other primary responsibilities including assisting with the completion of a long-term inventory and reorganization project of the museum’s permanent collection. The candidate will also be tasked with digitizing the collection as required. This process can include cataloging, scanning and/or photographing objects, performing additional research, and entering this information onto the Collective Access database therefore making the collection accessible worldwide via a public database known as NovaMuse. The Collections Management Assistant will also help with cleaning up the database, with loan reconciliation, be expected to attend all Collections Committee meetings, and will be asked to provide a detailed update on their work progress to the committee. From time to time the candidate will assist with other tasks that may include responding to historical inquiries, conducting guided tours, assisting with creating and implementing outreach programming, general housekeeping, conducting retail sales, creating social media content (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram posts), as well as researching and writing blog posts using objects from the permanent collection.
