We are recruiting for a regular full-time Arts and Culture Programmer to join our team of professionals in the Arts, Culture & Community Initiatives Division; at the Langley Centennial Museum in beautiful Fort Langley Village. The Museum is looking for a dynamic and creative individual to join its team.

Reporting to Director, you will be responsible in this unionized position for planning, developing, coordinating and implementing a wide variety of arts and culture based public programs, community events and activities at various cultural and recreational facilities. You will also schedule, evaluate and recommend changes to the same. You will recruit, train, direct and oversee the work of volunteers and summer students; hire auxiliary or contract workers engaged in program implementation and monitor the performance of same; collaborate with arts and culture community partner representatives on the development and delivery of special events, and celebrations as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, organizations and groups with a special interest in assigned program areas; providing information to members of the public on program related matters.

Your education will include a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and/or related disciplines such as History, Education, Museology and Culture Resources Management plus associated experience including supervisory; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the procedures, methods, practices, and resources applicable to the provision of arts and culture public programs, activities and special events, and of related trends and concerns as well as considerable knowledge of the needs and interests of the community served and of arts and culture resources in the municipality and principles, philosophy and objectives of arts and culture programming as it relates to the work performed is necessary.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a police information check as a condition of employment (Note - Not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $30.37 - $35.74 per hour (5 steps, 2018 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm; Non-standard hours and/or non-standard work week.
