Job Description:

 

Reporting to the Manager, Exhibitions CSTM, the incumbent will contribute interpretive services to exhibition development teams, be responsible for the development and preparation of interpretive elements related to exhibitions, such as interpretive plans, exhibition texts and interactive components, and contribute to related program and product development activities such as web sites and public events.

The standard weekly hours are: SWW 37.50 Hrs (5 days consecutive Mon. - Fri.)

Education and Experience:
As an ideal candidate, you hold a University degree in science, museology, education or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

You also have experience in the following areas:
- at least two (2) years experience in the development, coordination and implementation of a variety of multi-disciplinary interpretation projects, products and exhibitions in a museum or science centre or for similar organizations;
- efficient communication with the public through a variety of media;
- teamwork;
- advanced writing for general public;
- leadership and supervision of service providers;
- project management.


RATED REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
- of the theories and contemporary methods of interpretation related to exhibitions, publications and electronic products;
- of visitor study and survey techniques, of learning theories and methods;
- of group animation techniques and training;
- of advanced writing;
- of basics of science: facts, laws and theories which are demonstrated in the Museum and that are required to develop a variety of products including exhibitions, interactives, web components, etc.;
- of Ontario and Quebec school curriculums;
- of the Ingenium mandate in relation to education and interpretation and of the role of museums in our society;
- awareness of contemporary science and technology issues in Canada.
