Job Title: Membership Officer

Reports to: Manager, Membership Development

About the CMA:

The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) is the national organization for the advancement of the Canadian museum sector, representing Canadian museum professionals both within Canada and internationally. The membership includes nearly 2,000 members from non-profit museums, art galleries, science centres, aquaria, archives, sport halls-of-fame, artist-run centres, zoos and historic sites across Canada. They range from large metropolitan galleries to small community museums. The CMA provides professional development programs, networking opportunities, and a body of knowledge to its members.

Job Description:

CMA is seeking a dynamic, experienced and bilingual person to administer the CMA membership database and conference registration. The Membership Assistant plays a vital role in the administration of our CMA membership and Conference planning.

Responsibilities include:

- Review and process CMA Membership data
- Respond to emails/ phone calls regarding CMA Membership ( Bilingual )
- Execute daily ongoing maintenance of our membership database
- Maintain a good public relationship with members
- Assist the manager in membership recruitment
- Process annual bilingual renewals
- Process general member administration and services
- Participates in meetings, as required
- Conducts research and produces reports for various stakeholders ( Excel)
- Receive, register and maintain CMA Conference registrations ( seasonal)
- Respond to emails/ phone calls regarding CMA Conference ( Bilingual)
- Assist in conference logistic planning and organizing ( seasonal)
- Cover reception duties as needed
- Other related duties as required

The successful candidate will have:

- Experience in delivering high quality member services at a national level, preferably in a non-profit association
- Experience wiith managing registrations for conferences would be highly desirable
- Excellent problem solving skills and able to multi task
- High degree of proficiency in data processing, preferably using a membership database.
- Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office and a membership database (eSolutions preferably)
- Ability to communicate effectively with members, management and surroundings
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small professional team
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written, in French and English
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
- Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, or administration and/or equivalent experience
- Some knowledge of financial accounting principles would be desirable
- Experience working in a professional association environment working in member services would be an asset

The ideal candidate will be an innovative, creative, self-starter with the ability to think outside the box.

The CMA offers a flexible work environment, a great benefit package and an annual salary of $30,000 to $34,000.
