The Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto invites applications for a one-year Contractually Limited-Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream beginning on January 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter, and ending on December 31, 2019. The position is in the area of Museum Studies.

The CLTA would be a contributor to museum and academic communities' understanding of: visitor research, user experience, audience engagement, interpretation and/or curatorial practices, and access and inclusion within cultural institutions; or, museum management and leadership, with interests in sustainability, advocacy, transitional justice, climate action, accessibility, inclusion, and/or global heritage initiatives.

Candidates must have a Master’s level degree, in Museum Studies, or a related field. The successful candidate must also have an outstanding record of excellence in teaching and a Ph.D. in a relevant field at the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, or an advanced masters in the field and an exceptional portfolio of professional work, in or for, cultural institutions.The successful candidate must have previous experience teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level including syllabus and curriculum development and the successful use of experiential learning pedagogies, strong endorsements from referees, excellent communication and expository skills, demonstrated ability to expertly incorporate current research into our graduate courses, and demonstrated excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry.

Evidence of excellence in teaching can be demonstrated by strong endorsements from referees, teaching accomplishments, and the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application, to include a teaching statement, teaching evaluations, and sample course syllabi and select course materials. The successful candidate must also possess the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues on our graduate courses and programs. Teaching duties are in the professional graduate program, and will include mainly courses in the Master of Museum Studies Program.
