Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Curatorial Division, Curator, Natural Resources and Industrial Technologies plans, manages, and implements the development of Ingenium’s National Collection in the stipulated major sectors (Energy, Mining, Metallurgy, Water, Domestic Technologies and Industrial Technologies) within Ingenium’s mandate; conducts research and directs research by staff including contractors, on the history of science and technology, material culture of science and technology, and modern scientific and technological developments; participates in the planning and development of exhibitions and Ingenium products, including digital products; is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the content of all Ingenium products related to the curatorial subject area; publishes articles and provides input to publications and information to the public on the scientific and technological background and the historical development of the sector; represents Ingenium at conferences; liaises with partners in other museums, government departments, research institutions, and industries, nationally and internationally; and identifies and applies for research grants in cooperation with research institutions.
The standard weekly hours are: SWW 37.50 Hrs (5 days consecutive Mon. - Fri.)
Education and Experience:
As an ideal candidate, you have completed, at minimum, a masters degree in history (PhD preferred) or in one of the following disciplines: history of technology, public history, material culture, digital humanities, or a domain related to the study of natural resources and/or industrial technology; and demonstrated interest and expertise in history, science and/or engineering.
You also have experience in the following areas:
- minimum of three (3) to five (5) years relevant experience in at least one of the primary areas of responsibility.

- strong understanding of historical issues relevant to scientific and technological development in the subject areas (related sciences);
- an appreciation of the public understanding of his/her areas of responsibility;
- strong understanding of the material culture within the fields of responsibility;
- demonstrated proficiency in using digital tools to convey historical information;
- understanding of research granting structures;
- a demonstrated publication recorded and a commitment to carry on his/her own research program.
Abilities:
- to work effectively with other staff;
- to plan, budget and manage research for the subject areas;
- to direct and review the work of assistants and contractors.
