  Position: Museum Supervisor
Hours: 30h/week
Duration: May 1, 2018 - September 30, 2018. Possibility of extension.

About the Lucan Area Heritage & Donnelly Museum:

Founded in 1995 the Lucan Area Heritage & Donnelly Museum (LAHDM) serves the town of Lucan and the surrounding area. Located in the heart of Lucan, it is an integral part of the community and serves as an important cultural space. We seek to preserve the region’s history and share it with the public. From the indigenous origins of the area, to the establishment of the Wilberforce Settlement, and the notorious Donnelly story, Lucan has a fascinating and culturally diverse history.

About the position:

The LAHDM is currently seeking a Museum Supervisor. The Museum Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the museum. They will participate in a variety of tasks related to the operation of a museum including administrative, public programming, and curatorial tasks.

Responsibilities include:

- Provide a leadership and training role for summer students, delegate tasks, and meet with students to review work performance and address concerns.
- Monitor collections management and curatorial work
- Create staff/volunteer schedule to ensure the museum is adequately staffed at all times
- Take museum/bus tour and Escape Room bookings
- Provide museum greetings, answer visitor inquiries, and process gift shop transactions
- Monitor phone, email, and online accounts (facebook, museum website). Respond to inquiries when necessary.
- Process payroll and print required reports
- Assist in the organization, promotion, and hosting of events run by the Lucan and Area Heritage Society (Escape Room, Baconfest, etc.)

Requirements:
- Candidate should be a University or College graduate with a degree in a related field of study (ex. History, Museum Studies, Library and Information Science, Art History, etc.)
- Previous volunteer/work experience in the heritage field
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience working in a computerized work environment, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel
- Experience working with PastPerfect Museum Software is an asset but not required
- Experience working with payroll software is an asset but not required
- Self-motivating and able to work both independently and in a team environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
