Job Description:

  Clearwater County is looking to build a dynamic team to live and work together in Nordegg for the summer. This team’s job will be to help make Nordegg a destination of choice, by providing friendly service, accurate information and by beautifying the area. These positions suit individuals who are not afraid to interact with the public, live in a remote location or perform manual labour.

Heritage Interpreter - Four (4) Wage Positions

The Heritage Interpreters focus on the Brazeau Collieries Historic Coal Mine Site and the Nordegg Heritage Centre: Museum and Visitor Information Desk. Job activities include: conducting guided walking tours, providing visitors with information, and maintaining the museum and mine site. You will be as willing to weed whack and clean the facilities as to help the public.

Heritage Interpreter Qualifications:

Post-Secondary student returning to full-time studies after the summer or just graduated;
Pursuing an education in History, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Education, Liberal Arts, or a related field;
Computer literate: with data entry skills and photographic skills;
Physically able to conduct walking tours and perform heavy physical work;
Ability to work in varying weather conditions
Current First Aid and CPR;
Valid Class 5 driver’s license, have your own transportation and provide current drivers abstract;
Have, or are willing to attain, ATV training;
Provide a clear vulnerable sector check before commencement;
Confident working with the public;
Comfortable living in a remote place;
Be available to work weekends and holidays [40 hours per week]. Time off will be provided mid-week as per scheduling.
In return for your hard work, you will be compensated with a competitive hourly wage, two consecutive days off/week and staff accommodations. You must be available to start working in early May to the beginning of September.
