2018 Employment Opportunity – Oral History Researcher
The Crowsnest Museum and Archives is seeking enthusiastic, outgoing and motivated individual to fill the position of Oral History Researcher from September 2018 to March 2019.
The Oral History Researcher responsibilities will include: researching community history; preparing and scheduling conducting programs for school/youth groups and visitors of all ages; guided museum and outdoor tours; admissions; administrative and gift shop duties; special events; exhibits and displays; research and a variety of museum/collection related projects.
Applicants need to be a recent graduate who has graduated from a college or university within 24 months of the start of employment and who is currently unemployed or underemployed and meet the requirements of the YCW internship program.
Job Location: Muncipality of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta
Qualifications
Recent graduate of a college or university in History, or Arts (ie. Museum Studies, Archival Studies, History, etc) with related coursework in oral history methods, cultural heritage, Candidate must meet YCW Internship candidate requirements.
• Candidate should have some introductory experience in primary research and administration
• Some experience with conducting oral history interviews an asset
• Excellent written, communication, organizational, and presentation skills
• Competence in Microsoft office and basic research methods
• Fluency in English
