Idea Exchange, Queen’s Square and Design at Riverside We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic candidate to fulfill a key role in supporting a major community project that we are undertaking with the University of Waterloo School of Architecture, titled Common Waters. The project will engage our local and wider community through art activations, discussions, exhibitions, and events that spark conversations about our shared waters. As a Community Project Assistant, you would be providing key administrative support for events, activations, and discussions while working with the Gallery team. You will support artists with the set-up and installation of their works and activations. Leading tours of the exhibitions and assisting with promoting projects, exhibitions, events, and activations through social media and preparation and distribution of basic promotional materials are fundamental part of the position. You will also be responsible to perform front desk attendant duties at the Design at Riverside gallery space on a regular schedule, assist with set up for programs and special events as required and participate in staff meetings. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule and perform other related duties when necessary. The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, preferably in an arts related program. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SLR digital cameras, and Adobe Creative Suite is a must. This is a full-time, contract position beginning June 3, 2019 and ending August 30, 2019. The rate of pay will be $14.00 per hour in accordance with minimum wage standards. In this role, you will work approximately 70 hours in a bi-weekly period. The starting schedule will include day time and weekend shifts.
