Job Description:

 


The Education & Public Programs Coordinator supports the WDM in achieving its public trust responsibilities through comprehensive and dynamic learning programs for diverse audiences. The Education & Public Programs Coordinator is responsible for delivering engaging programs for all museum audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Learning Programs
• Implementing a variety of learning strategies to engage diverse audiences in museum-related programming.
• Planning, coordinating and delivering school and public programs (general, curriculum focused, outreach, children/youth, etc.) both on and off site.
• Developing learning goals, objectives, and outcomes particularly in the area of school, tour, family and adult programming, in consultation with management.
• Working with Corporate Office Education staff in creating, implementing, updating, and evaluating education programs, ensuring strong ties to Saskatchewan curriculum.
• Developing outcomes and performance measures for all learning activities and regularly evaluating program performance to ensure performance measures are being achieved.
• Implementing and monitoring all museum standards, policies, procedures and guidelines pertaining to learning activities.
• Maintaining ongoing familiarity, through reading and professional interaction (training seminars, conferences, discussion groups, etc.), with programming issues and innovations in museums.

2. Communication
• Assisting Corporate Office staff in preparing and coordinating promotional and marketing information for learning programs.
• Maintaining regular contact with teachers and school administrators to promote the Museum's programs and web resources in line with the Saskatchewan curriculum.
• Ensuring co-workers are aware of all program plans, projects and activities.
• As requested by management, act as a spokesperson for programming activities in response to media requests.
• Sharing programming knowledge internally and externally (e.g. through blogs, outreach initiatives, publications, social channels, etc.)

3. Administration
• Overseeing program invoicing, payment processing, and the purchase and maintenance of program supplies.
• Manage program bookings and coordination of appropriate volunteers.
• Ensuring privacy requirements are maintained to highest level and that all program staff and volunteers understand and adhere to privacy requirements.
• Monitoring and providing statistical data for all programming; preparing and contributing to written reports as required.
• Assisting teachers and groups in planning, coordinating, and managing museum visits including program selection, reservations, and pre and post visit materials.
• Assist with visitor services and other museum-related duties as assigned by the WDM Yorkton Manager.
