Job Description:

 


Under the direction of the Administrator, Wellington Place, Museum and Archives, the Curator’s basic role is to develop the collection, plan and install exhibits, and deliver curatorial programmes and services that meet the needs of Wellington County residents. Working collaboratively with the management team, the principal responsibilities include collection management; exhibits; departmental budget; supervision of four curatorial staff; curatorial policy, procedures and planning; and, developing effective relationships with community groups and heritage facilities within the County. Collection and exhibit management include historic buildings, a cemetery, and cultural landscapes.

The minimum qualifications for this position include:
• Four year university degree in history, museum studies or related discipline.
• Minimum four years of experience or equivalent in museum curatorial work that includes collection development, programmes, exhibits, budgeting, planning, and working cooperatively with other museum departments and functions at a senior management level.
• Proven record in developing community partnerships, outreach, and curatorial programmes/exhibits that meet the demands of the public.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with proven supervisory and team management experience.
• Ability to lift and carry artifacts and climb ladders.
• Experience working with PastPerfect software.
• A valid driver’s licence (minimum G2 Class) and access to a reliable vehicle.

This position offers a comprehensive benefit package and a salary range of: $70,324.80 to
$82,264.00 (2018 Non Union Compensation Grid), based on a 35 hour work week.
