Museum Assistant
Frontenac County Schools Museum
414 Regent Street Kingston, ON
This position provides an opportunity for students to become familiar with working in a Museum setting by assisting the Curator in researching, developing, organizing and implementing new exhibits; enhancing permanent exhibits; cataloging artifacts; and researching new outreach programmes. The student will learn about the care and organization of the Museum's collection to preserve it for future research, exhibits, and the public’s enjoyment. Students will scan and digitally prepare photos of artifacts and documents to enhance the quality of our collections so that we may better share them with the public. The student may also be responsible for updating the museums social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram and answering emails.
Other duties include answering inquiries from the public, assisting in public programs, and some light cleaning of the museum.
Qualifications
Post–secondary education and or/experience in the following fields is desirable: Education, Museum Studies, History, Marketing.
Position available dependent upon receiving Canada Summer Jobs grant.
