Band 2: $21.21 - $23.16 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)

 
 

Job Description:

 

The Admin Support 2-Museum Technician is responsible for Museum Collections maintenance, exhibition development and Visitor Services at the Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre. Specific responsibilities and duties for this position include:

-Coordinate and maintain the LCSC’s heritage & art collection.
-Perform curatorial research for artifacts, exhibitions and tours.
-Responsible for the development and installation of exhibitions.
-Support the development of collections management policies and procedures.
-Responsible for the preventative conservation of the collections.
-Develop and lead public and school tours of the galleries.
-Provide helpful and accurate information to visitors and tourists, in person, by phone, and email.
-Provide front desk coverage.
-Other related duties as assigned.

Schedule:
This position is based on a rotation consisting of Monday – Friday from 8:45am-4:45pm and Tuesday-Saturday from 8:45am-4:45pm. This position will be required to work outside of normal working hours to accommodate bookings, programs and events.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

-Post-secondary education including a Certificate, Diploma or Degree in: Museum Studies, History or Material Culture is required.
-Previous experience in a cultural or heritage facility is required; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
-Candidates must be proficient in the use of: Microsoft Word and Excel, familiar with collections database software and have strong attention to detail.
-Must be able to work independently, efficiently and accurately and converse with the general public in a clear and concise manner, both in person and over-the-phone.
-Offer will be contingent upon receiving a satisfactory criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check prior to employment.
