Facilities Officer
Job Summary Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Officer will manage assigned areas of responsibilities for the operation and maintenance of the NGC facilities in support of core NGC activities including the mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
Requirements • Successful completion of a college diploma in mechanical or electrical technology or other field related to building sciences or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training; • 3 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a museum environment; • Knowledge of architectural and engineering design, building systems, commissioning processes and procedures, and equipment maintenance protocols; • Knowledge of maintenance and repair requirements for mechanical and electrical systems; • Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code and its regulations, National Building Code, and other codes and regulations pertaining to the operations and maintenance of public buildings; • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems including process documentation for preventive maintenance planning and scheduling, corrective maintenance, work requests, and regular and ad hoc reporting; • Experience supervising and managing external service providers, including the ability to plan, organize and implement a program of work from inception to completion; • Experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications and contract documents for building-related projects; • Knowledge of Windows applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook); • Ability to plan, coordinate and manage maintenance service contracts and capital project activities, and manage associated budgets; • Ability to walk/stand for long periods, climb ladders, move and use two and three person lifts for investigations and inspections; • Experience preparing reports, project briefs and detailed scope of work documents for building-related work.
Condition of Employment • Must meet the bilingual requirement to be invited to the interview process. • Reliability Status - this factor is not used at the pre-selection stage.
