The City of Richmond is currently looking to hire a Regular Full-Time Senior Manager, Arts, Culture & Heritage to join our team. The Senior Manager, Arts, Culture & Heritage is a leadership role within the Community Services Division and the City as a whole. This position contributes to the arts, culture & heritage sector regionally, provincially, and nationally in setting standards and advocating for resources and support from other levels of government that assist with the provision of services at the municipal level. Example of key work activities include:

• Working within the Community Services leadership team as well as the corporate leadership team to develop strategic directions that are consistent with Council term goals and the corporate vision, mission and values.
• Ensuring that the Arts, Culture & Heritage Services Department plans for and implements appropriate action plans.
• Ensuring City resources allocated to Arts, Culture & Heritage Services result in well-managed arts, culture and heritage services and facilities that meet community needs.
• Developing and maintaining a wide range of relationships with not-for-profit organizations, external agencies and other levels of government and organizations.
• Negotiating agreements and understandings with stakeholders and organizations.
• Providing leadership, advice, guidance & policy interpretation.
• Working within a complex partnership arrangement where the City is ultimately responsible to ensure that programs and services meet community needs.
• Preparing and managing budgets for operating needs and capital projects; external fundraising through grants & sponsorships is a critical component for operations such as the Art Gallery, Museum & Britannia.
• Ensuring Arts, Heritage, and Culture is considered in City policies and planning.

Position Requirements:

Completion of a Bachelor level degree in a field related to Arts, Culture & Heritage. Education must be supplemented by a minimum of ten (10) years of practical experience in arts, culture and heritage administration including: experience within the municipal environment; corporate or municipal leadership; strategic, business & policy planning; including working in a cross-functional team within a strategic organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in a political environmental both governmental and non-profit is considered an asset.
