Job Description:

 

Summary

We are looking for an expert in designing interactive installations. The incumbent’s mandate will be to conceptualize mixed interactive installations (physical and digital) based on a project's themes and to assess the feasibility of existing designs with the goal of enriching them and simplifying their execution. Reporting to the head of expertise in interactive design and under the direction of the project team, the selected person will work closely with our creative and production teams in order to deliver interactive, innovative and singular experiences.


Responsibilities

Communicate and present concepts in detail with diagrams, scripts, prototypes, images, words, sketches and/or 3D models
Assemble and lead test groups to validate interactive concepts (functional feasibility, form, ergonomics, customer experience) by using physical prototypes (paper, cardboard, foamcore, etc.)
Work in collaboration with members of the production team in order to validate possibilities and define limits with respect to proposed solutions, both from a budgetary point of view and in terms of feasibility
Work in collaboration with the creation team in order to ensure the integration of the exhibition’s different components
Participate in the development of necessary tools and documents intended for the client


Skills and qualifications

Ability to visualize how visitors interact with space and objects
Superior capacity to synthesize information; ability to transpose complex content (scientific) and transform it into functional, participatory, interactive, fun, stimulating and meaningful installations for a specific audience
Excellent visual communication skills; ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear yet in-depth manner with diagrams, scripts, prototypes, images, sketches and 3D models
Rigorous and structured thought-processes and work methods
Team player generous with his or her time and talent
Leadership and autonomy
Strong believer in learning through play
Familiarity and experience in a museum context is an asset

Requirements
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the development of mixed and/or participatory interactive experiences with a work portfolio as evidence
Skilled at building and creating prototypes and programming physical/electronic interfaces (e.g. Arduino)
Software requirements: Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office Suite, wireframe/prototyping software;
Programming and a rapid 3D modelling tool (e.g.: SketchUp, Blender) a considerable asset
