Job Description:

The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village (UCHV) is a provincially operated outdoor living history museum presenting the history of east central Alberta from a predominantly Ukrainian perspective. More than 35 historic buildings from the surrounding community have been relocated to the site presenting the period of 1892 – 1930. Costumed role players portray real people who once lived in the region, allowing visitors to travel back in time to learn about the area’s history, people and culture.

The UCHV requires up to three seasonal admissions clerks to work from May 14 through until September 3 and then on September 9 for the last special event of the season.

First impressions are vital. The admission clerk is the first contact for visitors and is key to creating a warm and welcoming museum experience. Key tasks include welcoming visitors, processing gate admission, answering any way-finding questions. Administrative duties include daily cash reconciliations.
Specifically, duties will include:

1. Collection of admission fees, including accepting various passes and other admissions incentives, responding to enquiries and familiarizing visitors with the site, administering economic surveys, discount monitoring, and ensuring the visitors have a positive first contact experience.
2. Reconciliation of cash, including maintaining a balanced float, daily reconciliation of admission fees and cost recovery, and timely delivery of cash admissions and reconciliations to senior administrative staff.
3. Maintain a friendly and courteous attitude toward all visitors, handling visitor complaints in a professional manner and providing direction to visitors regarding the day’s site activities.
4. May be required to undertake additional administrative duties e.g. data entry, supporting various program areas as needed.

Incumbent will be required to work with minimal supervision and adapt quickly to high volume visitation, particularly on special event days. Quick decision-making and problem solving skills will be necessary in order to keep traffic moving at these times. Reconciliation and documentation must be completed on a daily basis, so that cash can be deposited and cash blotter can be maintained by other administrative staff.

Qualifications:
• Incumbent should possess a minimum of high school graduation, and have mathematical and problem-solving skills. The incumbent will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to readily put visitors at ease in the most stressful situations.
• Experience in cash handling is required, and customer service experience is a definite asset.
• Weekend shift work will be required; normal admissions hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, seven days per week, and admissions clerks will work on a rotational basis.

Note: The successful candidate will be required to submit a current security screening.
