TOTAL Fine Arts is seeking an outgoing, driven, and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Business Development Specialist. Seeking applicants for an immediate opening.
TOTAL has built a strong reputation on our hands-on and customer-focused approach; in this role, you will demonstrate your natural ability to grow client relationships, and proactively manage their accounts. This position requires demonstrated sales experience in international shipping, knowledge of export/import processes, and exceptional customer service to high profile clients. You will be required to be proactive and coordinate projects with Canadian and international parties, internal company divisions, and a variety of clients to ensure successful business wins. You should be a highly ambitious champion of our company with a desire to actively seek out new contacts and clients, further develop existing relationships, and be a primary point of contact for arts and cultural institutions.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Develop new and existing relationships with prospective clients, including cultural institutions, museums and galleries, auction houses, agents, and corporate and private collectors
- Build knowledge base of clients, including contacts and key needs, while providing company data and consultative support to clients and selling the TOTAL experience
- Expand current business across Canada, by developing strategies in line with the company goals
- Prepare timely proposals for any RFI, RFP, RFQs, and projects including tender pricing, securing supplier pricing and ensuring profits are in line with margins.
- Support the company and fine arts staff/management from estimate responses through to operational arrangements, focusing on international moves.
- Thrive in a fast-paced work environment, and managing all emails and calls with authority and professionalism, while keep acute attention to detail.
- Work on other company development projects as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in Transportation and Logistics, Sales and Marketing, or International Business, preferred but not required.
- 5+ years of experience in transportation sales/freight forwarding – air and ocean experience required
- CIFFA certification a must, CITT and/or DG certification an asset
- Experience working with arts and culture community
- Comprehensive understanding of operational procedures regarding air and ocean transport, international import/export processes and restrictions, and permits, as related to client projects
- Confidence in contacting new clients for sales pitching, needs analysis, and providing solutions
- Able to take charge, make decisions and positively manage change as and when needed.
- Ability to work both independently, collaboratively and multitasking
- Strong analytical, problem solving, administrative planning and organizational capabilities
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, database experience, etc.)
- Excellent understanding of customer needs – particularly within the freight forwarding industry
- Outstanding interpersonal skills relating to: communication, negotiation, and problem solving
- Fluency in English required, additional languages an asset
- Driving license a must
