The Acadia University Art Gallery seeks a summer student for the position of Outreach & Collections Assistant. This summer employment opportunity will allow the student to gain experience in the rich and varied fields of art, public history, museums, curating, collection's research, arts education and arts administration.
The Outreach & Collections Assistant will work in two key areas: First, they will assist with the development and delivery of outreach programs related to two summer exhibitions, including a special project on the artist Maud Lewis. These programs will involve gallery tours, as well as hands-on art experiences for the public. Second, they will work on a recent acquisition of 200 works on paper, with a focus on scenes of Nova Scotia. The student will continue research undertaken on this project and will work on photographing, documenting, organizing and researching the collection in preparation for a print-study project.
The position runs from 16 May – 29 August 2018
Hours of work will be from Wednesday–Sunday, 35hrs a week, 11.25$hr
Language of Work is English.

-A university student with at least one course in Art History, History or related field
-An ability to work on multiple projects
-Comfortable working with images and an understanding of research
-Experience or a keen interest in the delivery of hands-on learning experiences in connection with exhibitions.
-Self-motivated, high level of organization, responsible
-Strong proficiency with computers (including word suite, and strong understanding of social media platforms)
-A student that is interested in pursuing a career in art, public history, museums or arts education.
