The New Brunswick Military History Museum (NBMHM) at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown, in Oromocto, New Brunswick, Canada invites bids for an 8 month contract position in the role of Educational Programs Developer, commencing April 1, 2019, or as negotiated.

OVERVIEW:

As a Canadian Forces (CF) Museum, and more generally a member of the Canadian Museum Association (CMA) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the New Brunswick Military History Museum (NBMHM) is mandated not only to preserve the past, but to interpret and promote the various aspects of our nation’s history.

This is reflected in the internal mission of the NBMHM which stipulates that it will acquire, conserve, research, exhibit, and interpret artefacts and archival documents that illustrate the history and heritage of the military forces in New Brunswick, and New Brunswickers at war, during peacetime, and on UN/NATO duty to Canadian Forces personnel and to the public at large.

CONTRACT SUMMARY:

The provisioning of educational programs to a museum’s community is among the most notable avenues for ensuring the mandates of historical interpretation and promotion are met. At present, NBMHM lacks any such formalized programs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the introduction of quality, accessible, repeatable, curriculum- and interest-based programs to NBMHM’s roster of public offerings.

The specific deliverables to be provided are:
(1) An original series of educational programs, and associated materials;

(4) Orientation of current staff to details and delivery of newly developed programs.
