We are looking for Learning Specialists!

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Determining audience profiles, needs and satisfaction criteria to attract visitors and encourage loyalty using a variety of approaches, such as co-creation, discussion, dialogue, workshops, games, chats and interactives;
• Forging ties with various audiences (e.g., schools, families, multi-generational groups) by coordinating the effective presentation of activities both onsite and across Canada;
• Proposing a full slate of cultural and educational activities, while also ensuring selection of the best means of interaction and learning, onsite and online;
• Contributing to the conception, creation and development of learning activities and projects that support the Museum’s strategic objectives;
• Promoting within the Museum and the wider museum community advances in learning theory and principles that encourage the participation and engagement of audiences in the dissemination of public history.

What we are looking for:

A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in:
• Conceptualizing and developing educational activities and special events for a range of audiences;
• Project management, preparing proposals, reports, budgets and schedules within the context of program development and evaluation;
• Analysing and evaluating audience/program needs in the development and assessment of the visitor experience;
• Developing partnerships with stakeholders from cultural, academic and educational sectors;
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Knowledge of:
• Mandate of the Canadian Museum of History in relation to learning methodologies, educational programs, and audience development;
• Needs and interests of audiences, and applications conducive to providing a dynamic visitor experience;
• Childhood education (early learners to pre-teen);
• Principles and practices related to market analysis and the implementation of programs on a national scale;
• Evaluation techniques, educational theory, and informal learning methods;
• Project management processes, including the preparation, control, and supervision of budgets and schedules.

Education: University diploma in education, museology, social sciences or the humanities, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
