An exciting opportunity is currently available at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre. The Centre operates as the territorial museum, and has been an innovative and dynamic institution since it was founded forty years ago. The Curator, Museum Collections is responsible for the development, management, research of, and general oversight of, the permanent museum collections, which include archaeology, ethnography, fine art, and natural history. The Curator ensures that items representing the human and natural heritage of the NWT are collected, documented, kept safe, and made accessible to the people of the NWT and visitors from around the world. The Curator will work closely with Indigenous people and other stakeholders to undertake their duties.
We’re seeking candidates that have completed a graduate degree in history, anthropology, archaeology, or museum studies (advanced degree preferred), plus five years of employment in a museum curatorial or collections management department, including two years managing subordinates.
