Job Description:

  The Orillia Museum of Art & History (Orillia, ON) seeks a post-secondary student to fill the position of Development Assistant, under the direction of the Executive Director and the Advancement Officer is responsible for supporting 2 major signature events and support the monthly giving campaign, Duties may include: organization and administration of 2 signature events, assist in efforts to enhance donor/sponsor base for these events, identify and solicit event sponsorships, prizing and new participants, maintain donor recognition, ensure event/sponsor database and event files are current and accurate, assist in creating fundraising/event material, and provide post-event evaluation.

Eligible candidates will be a student returning to post-secondary education, having completed at least one year of study in a college diploma/certificate program or university degree specializing in marketing, business, special events, or fundraising. It would be ideal if the student has a background and interest in visual arts and/or Canadian history. This position will further develop the student's customer service, public relations, and administration skills, which are transferable, while making them familiar with the operations of a not-for-profit organization. Applicant must be able to work independently with good clerical accuracy, and have the ability to organize and plan. Time management is also required. Applicant must have excellent English skills, including good verbal and excellent writing abilities.

Maximum length of position (funding dependent): 16 weeks (35 hours per week)

Salary: $14/hr
