Job Description

The Military Museums (TMM) in Calgary in partnership with the Directorate of History and Heritage (DHH) in Ottawa is developing a 1300 square foot temporary traveling exhibit entitled Afghan Legacy. The exhibit is scheduled to tour across Canada for the next 4-5 years and will then form the nucleus of a much larger permanent gallery at TMM (whereupon the exhibit content will be significantly expanded). Previous contracts have led to the development of a Concept Plan which will be provided to interested Contractors on request via WeTransfer (only). An exhibit fabrication contractor has been contracted to fabricate the overall exhibit (Expographiq, in Ottawa). A previous contract with Combined Forces has resulted in the creation of a large resource of oral history interviews with veterans of Afghanistan (about 240 interviews comprising an estimated 350-400 hours), as well as some initial mini-documentaries and completed clips.

The current RFP is designed to complete the full list of mini-documentaries and provide other A/V content for the exhibit as per the full RFP and Statement of Work, which is available on request via e-mail. There are two versions of the exhibit (a full 3D version with artifacts, and a 2D version without) which will each contain similar A/V content. Exhibit development is already well underway, and the 2D version is scheduled for its first showing in November. The 3D version has its first showing in January, 2020. It is therefore imperative that all items in the Statement of Work are completed no later than October, with preference to an earlier completion.

Due to internal approval limitations, bids higher than $50,000.00 cannot be accepted.

Full RFP and Statement of Work available by contacting mor-curator@telusplanet.net. Bids are to be sent to the same address.

Bid package will include:
1) Price proposal.
2) a list of all Contractor team members with their qualifications and past A/V development experience. Preference will be given to previous documentary development. All individuals should present their experience and show which museums/institutions this work was done for.
3) a portfolio of past A/V material developed by Contractor. Portfolio must be provided electronically only, via WeTransfer, links or direct e-mail. Dropbox submissions will not be accepted.
4) a list of past clients who contracted for A/V development. Names and contact information will be provided. These individuals will be contacted as references.
5) a timeline for all work in the Statement of Work.
