Position: Community Program Developer
Location: Ireland House Museum
Start and End Dates: June 11th – August 31st 2018
Wage: 35 hours/week, $14.50/hour
Positions Available: 1

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Museums of Burlington are looking for a Community Program Developer. The successful applicant will:
• Working with the Education Department, develop a series of programs intended to welcome newcomers to the Halton Region, introduce them to the City of Burlington’s history and culture, and celebrate the diversity of the community. Participants will make connections with their new community through their own culture and immigration experiences.
• Research the demographics of the regions of Halton, Hamilton-Wentworth, Peel, and the GTA, as well as how other cultural organizations in these communities are promoting an inclusive and diverse experience for new citizens. Reach out to cultural associations within the community and build partnerships to promote the new program offerings.
• Develop a proposal with activity recommendations and program outlines for programs at the Museums of Burlington and include relevant research and resource materials.
• Provide interpretive support during public hours, programs, camps, and events.

REQUIREMENTS
• Pursuing a Degree, Diploma, and/or Certification in: Museum Studies, Public History, Social Work and/or Social Services, Communication Studies, or in a field involving working with children or the public.
• Must be proficient using Microsoft Office and have experience with research and program development through projects or work experience.
• Must have experience working with children.
• Candidates must provide proof of enrollment in a college or university program in order to be eligible through Young Canada Works.
