Job Description:

 

Under the Curator’s supervision, the incumbent will provide operational support to the collections management process at The Royal Canadian Regiment Museum by processing backlog donations and by participating in the collections storage project. This is a summer student position, funded by Canada Summer Jobs program. Eligible candidates must return to school during next academic year.

Salary: $14.00 per hour for 30hrs/weekly for 6 weeks
Positions: 1 (4 June to 13 July 2018)
Experience: in museum practices and historical research
Qualifications: High school diploma AND some years experience in related field
Language requirement: English Mandatory, French an asset

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Catalogue artifacts.
• Label artifacts.
• Take photos of the artefacts.
• Enter data in the collections management automated system.
• Organize and classify collections archives and other related files.
• Assist in collections relocation project and physical inventory of the collections.
• Enforce and uphold the policies and procedures of the Museum.
• Any other tasks as required by supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal, writing skills
• Good time management skills
• Ability to use the computer, camera and scanner – medium to advanced skills.
• Knowledge of museum practices such as handling artefacts, cataloguing procedures, labelling techniques
• Knowledge of Past Perfect software an asset.
• Team player

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time
• Must not have any allergies and be able to come in contact with material that is old.
