||The Orillia Museum of Art & History (Orillia, ON) seeks a post-secondary student to fill the position of Visitor Experiences and Membership Assistant for the summer. Under the direction of the Visitor Experiences Coordinator is responsible for supporting visitor experiences, membership and customer service. Duties may include assisting visitors, members, and volunteers through customer service, sales, gift shop procedures, membership benefits, and administration. They may also assist with coordinating and participating in museum signature events and local special events held either at the museum or in the community. Duties may include the creation of displays and/or exhibits to go to the events, preparing hand-out materials and hands-on activities, coordinating staff and/or volunteers to assist, set up and strike, budget preparation, promotion and reporting.
Eligible candidates will be a student returning to post-secondary education, having completed at least one year of study in a college diploma/certificate program or university degree specializing in marketing, communications, tourism, business, special events, or gallery/museum studies. It would be ideal if the student has a background and interest in visual arts and/or Canadian history. Applicant must be able to work independently with good clerical accuracy, and have the ability to organize and plan. Time management is also required. Applicant must have excellent English skills, including good verbal and excellent writing abilities. Applicant must have excellent customer service skills and a pleasant manner.
