Job Description:

  The Orillia Museum of Art & History (Orillia, ON) seeks a post-secondary student to fill the position of Media Communications Assistant, under the direction of the Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting with various digital promotions, photo-documentation and graphic design. Duties may include: Event Photography (document events such as exhibition openings, workshop programming, featured events), Design elements (assisting in expanding the museum’s educational and interactive elements through multi-media design. The museum seeks to feature in-house opportunities for visitors to interact with visual communication through photography, video and graphic design), Exhibition Photo-Documentation (for both promotional and archival use, exhibitions are to be documented after installation.

Eligible candidates will be a student returning to post-secondary education, having completed at least one year of study in a college diploma/certificate program or university degree specializing in marketing, media studies, photography, or special events. It would be ideal if the student has a background and interest in visual arts and/or Canadian history. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred. This position will further develop the student's customer service, public relations, and administration skills, which are transferable, while making them familiar with the operations of a not-for-profit organization. Applicant must be able to work independently with good clerical accuracy, and have the ability to organize and plan.
