Job Description:

 


jReporting to the Manager, Exhibitions CASM, the incumbent will contribute interpretive services to exhibit development teams, be responsible for the development and preparation of interpretive elements related to exhibits, such as Interpretive Plans, exhibit texts and interactive components, and contribute to related program and product development activities such as web sites and public events.

The standard weekly hours are: SWW 37.50 Hrs (5 days consecutive Mon. - Fri.)

Education and Experience:
As an ideal candidate, you hold a post-secondary diploma in science, history, museology, education or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

You also have experience in the following areas:
- at least two (2) years of experience in the development of interpretive products including exhibitions, interactives, virtual materials and other related products in a museum, science center or for similar organizations;
- in coordinating text writing, review and delivery.

RATED REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
- strong knowledge of the phases and steps involved in exhibition development at a national museum;
- practical and theoretical knowledge of current theories, methods, and best practices related to the development of exhibitions, publications, and electronic products;
- knowledge and understanding of evaluation needs and techniques related to various stages of exhibition development;
- knowledge of learning theories and methods as they apply to exhibition development (i.e. learning in informal settings);
- specific knowledge of Ontario and Quebec school curricula as they apply to the CASM’s mandate;
- strong knowledge and understanding of the needs of museum audiences;
- knowledge of the CASM and Ingenium mandates, and a general understanding of the roles and functions of museums within society.

- apply advanced written language skills in writing and reviewing exhibition text in both official languages;
- communicate effectively, orally and in writing in both official languages.
