Reporting to the Director, Membership & Database Marketing, the Manager, Database Marketing will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategic direct marketing initiatives designed to drive awareness and attendance within AGO Brand and Strategic Plan parameters. Responsible for creating, managing and execution of marketing campaigns, managing all direct marketing communications and channels, to increase awareness of the Gallery, grow AGO audiences, particularly the AGO’s membership base, and drive growth across all business streams.

In collaboration with the Director, Membership & Database Marketing, the successful candidate will also manage work performance of department staff through hiring; training processes; the assigning, scheduling and monitoring of work completion; and managing work performance. The successful candidate will also manage delivery of services in accordance with department systems and procedures, applicable collective agreements; and AGO’s policies and procedures on security, administration, human resources, and department manager/supervisor responsibilities for workplace health and safety.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• 5+ years’ experience in a direct marketing role, or equivalent education and directly related experience.
• Previous managerial /supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated success in developing, implementing and analyzing marketing campaigns that achieve revenue and audience targets.
• Current, comprehensive knowledge of marketing concepts, practices and techniques.
• Demonstrated experience with market and customer research methods and analyzing and leveraging research findings to inform new directions.
• Understanding of the dependency between direct communications and drive to the web for accurate information and complete the call to action.
• Solid understanding of CASL and email tools/platforms.
• Comfortable with data and reporting on campaign/communication performance and tracking.
• Detail-oriented while still understanding the big picture.
• Experience with life-cycle management through an integrated marketing channel mix.
• Experience developing behavioral & trigger based email campaigns to drive customer actions, engagement and loyalty.
• Demonstrated experience establishing and managing positive, professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated expertise in budget development and monitoring.
• Demonstrated negotiation/mediation, and influential leadership skills.
• Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic organization.
• Strategic thinker and creative problem solver.
• Well-developed administrative and organizational skills.
• Knowledge and passion for visual arts an asset.
